Bushwick was a lot like a carnival this past weekend. So much was going on everywhere you looked. Multiple streets were shut down and filled with performance artist doing beyond bizarre acts but we're totally down with that. Multiple loft buildings were transformed into individual gallery spaces. We went from room to room, looking at the various work, but we fell in love with one particular space. Two women artist (go girls!) who shared a studio and just happened to make art that complimented each other perfectly. Artist Nora Normile and Rachel Pontious created wonderful worlds from their work. Nora's artwork is reminiscent of childhood thoughts in its choice of color and content. Rachel's portraits were given an extra dynamic and texture through the use of wax. Together and separate their works really stood out amongst the chaos at Bushwick Open Studios.
