Looking at Rachel Pontious' paintings is like seeing yourself reflected through your own past. Her portraits of her parents and grandparents have an obscured quality often covered in wax. It's like rooting around in your grandpa's attic and finding an old picture album covered in layers of dust. Separated over the years from the figures we find in it, we are left to draw our own conclusions about their lives and loves. Rachel's studio is a lot of fun. She shares the space with Nora Normile. If you stop by you might catch them drinking wine, and dancing in their kimonos!
